Many people mistakenly believe that all real estate agents are REALTORS. That is not true. Only those agents who are members of the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) and follow their Code of Ethics can truthfully call themselves a REALTOR. They adhere to standards of conduct that go beyond what is mandated by the laws and regulations of each state. In this way we are held to a higher level of expectations by our customers, our colleagues, and the public. Agents who violate the Code can be brought before their local REALTOR association board, and if found in violation of the Code they can be fined or otherwise disciplined.
If you would like to see a copy of our Code of Ethics, you can download a copy by clicking on this link: Download 2009REALTORCodeofEthics I hope that you will see why it is a good idea to work with a true REALTOR whose behavior will be sincere, honest, and professional. As a REALTOR myself, it is always my goal to do my best to help my customers and maintain a high level of personal integrity while doing so.
