The 2010 Hurricane Season is Coming! Download a Storm Tracking Map Now!

On June 1st the 2010 Hurricane Season will begin. Let's hope that this year will be a quiet one. Though it would be nice is some mild tropical storms or depressions would swing by to drop off some much needed rain here in Florida.

The National Hurricane Center has a hurricane tracking map that you can download in PDF format. Print it up, put it on your fridge or bulletin board, and you can monitor any storms that might be approaching our area. Kind of fun to do as long as the storms do not get too close. You can get the latest information on their locations at the Hurricane Center's site at: Even some of you along the northeast coast of the US might be interested in this since it is not unheard of for a storm to stop by and visit you as well.

To get a copy of the map for yourself, just click on the following link: Download Hurricane Tracking Map - Atlantic

Hi John - Just saw a news report today that they expect this season to be similar to 2005. There are big concerns about how much damage a storm surge will do with all of the oil. I'm hoping our Gulf and Atlantic coasts can dodge that bullet.

I am sure a lot of people share your sentiments. Luckily, the experts are often wrong. The oil spill will be the joker in the deck. Hopefully they can get it cleaned up before any major storms hit. Was not that long ago that people were saying drill more in the gulf. Guess they learned a lesson on that one.

Hi John, I saw the news report today also about the predictions (more active season, warmer ocean temperatures), but then it seems they like to scare us early on every year.  I hope we don't see another 2005.  Let's keep our fingers crossed!
