As you may have read in one of my previous posts, I was recently interviewed by the Tampa Tribune concerning the housing market in my area, specifically in regard to those home buyers 55 years old and above. To read my previous post on this topic: CLICK HERE
The article did come out in a supplement called "In the Loop" that was included with the regular paper. There was a very large section dealing with my interview and they included a large color picture of one of my listings that I would like to sell. They even gave the address and the price. Can you imagine what it would have cost me to place such a large ad with all that text? A pretty penny I can assure you. The day after the article came out I got 2 calls from buyers interested in that particular property. Coincidence? I don't think so. Many people also mentioned that they had seen the article. The only thing I would do differently is that I would ask the reporter to include the web address to my home page in the article next time. I of course e-mailed the reporter to thank her for the positive coverage and to offer her my services if she should ever need another real estate source in our area.
The second interview I mentioned in my earlier post was for the "Biz Solutions" supplement of the Florida REALTOR Magazine that is put out by the Florida Association of REALTORS (FAR). I got a call yesterday, and they are sending a photographer here on Monday to take my picture for inclusion along with the interview. It will be hard to wait until it comes out. Though I take a terrible picture and am not looking forward to seeing that, haha.
So as I said in my previous post, blogging, whether here on ActiveRain or on your own weblog, does get you noticed. Not only by customers and colleagues, but by the media. Once you establish a relationship with them, there is almost no end to the free publicity you can get that will help your career. So keep posting and posting. I bet sooner or later many of you will also get calls from reporters who see you as a real estate expert and seek your commentaries about our field.
